Strain development | This strain originated from outbred Swiss mice, and the four substrains of SL family had been established at Kyushyu University. SL/Kh and SL/Ni strains were deposited by Dr. Hayase Shisa, Saitama Cancer Center Institute.Pregnant females were transferred to RIKEN Tsukuba Institute, their babies were cleaned up by Caesarean section, and introduced into the SPF facility. The mice are maintained by sister-brother mating. Females and males in the same litter are recommended to mate just after weaning. When females and males from the different litters are used, males of 8-12 weeks old and females of 4-8 weeks old breed well. |
Strain description | This strain has been established in Japan. Outbred Swiss mouse origin. High incidence of lymphoma was found in SL/Am, and not in SL/Ni.There are four substrains of SL family, DL/QDj, SL/Am, SL/Ni and SL/Kh. The SL/Ni and SL/Am strains are almost identical and share similar genetic background with the proto-SL strain. |
