Strain development Developed by Dr. Kyoji Kondo at Nagoya University, School of Agriculture. Derived from a cinnamon coat color colony of Japanese fancy mice (Nishiki-Nezumi).
Strain description NC/Nga mice were originated from Japanese fancy mice (Nishiki-Nezumi) and were established as a inbred strain in 1955. NC/Nga mice develop skin lesions similar to atopic dermatitis when kept under conventional environment, but not under specific pathogen -free environment as specific pathogen-free animals. They also show a high susceptibility to X-irradiation and anaphylactic shock from ovalbumin. Developed by Dr. Kyoji Kondo at Nagoya University.
