RBRC No. RBRC01765
Type Targeted Mutation CongenicCartagena wks
Species Mus musculus
Strain name B6.129S4-Tob1<tm1Tya>/TyaRbrc
Former Common name tob-gene KO (B6)
H-2 Haplotype No Data
ES cell line J1 [129S4/SvJae]
Background strain C57BL/6
1 Appearance black
Genotype a/a B/B C/C
Strain development Developed by Dr. Tetsuo Noda at Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Institute and Dr. Tadashi Yamamoto at the University of Tokyo in 1997. A PGK-neo cassette was inserted into the cording region of Tob1 gene. C57BL/6J background.
Strain description Tob is a member of antiproliferative protein family which is a negative regulator BMP/Smad signaling in osteoblasts. Tob1 null mice are viable and exhibit bone mass due to increased numbers of osteoblasts. This strain is useful for elucidating of Tob gene function.
Colony maintenance Backcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl)
