Strain description Sox2 gene is a member of the SRY-related HMG box gene family that encode transcription factors with a single HMG DNA-binding domain, expresses in multipotent neural stem cells at all stages of mouse ontogeny. Sox2 ORF was replaced with IREShygTKpA cassette flanked by loxP sites. Conditional Sox2 deficient mice can be generated by crossing this mice with tissue-specific Cre mice.
