Strain development Developed by Nelson Horseman, University of Cincinnati and Minoru Tanaka, Mie University School of Medicine in 1997. D3 ES cells were used. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 over 20 times.
Strain description Prl (prolaction) gene knockout mice. A PGK-neo cassette was inserted into the exon 4 of Prl gene. Homozygous mutant females are infertile due to an implantation defect. Homozygous mutant males are fertile.
