Strain development Developed by Soichi Takiguchi, National Hospital Organization Kyushu Cancer Center, in collaboration with Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Tokyo in 2002. E14TG2aIV ES cell line (129P2/OlaHsd) was used. C57BL/6J congenic strain (backcrossed to C57BL/6J for 12 generations).
Strain description Mta2 (metastasis-associated gene family, member 2) knockout mice. A genomic fragment corresponding from exon 8 to exon 12 of the Mta2 gene was replaced with a Neo resistance gene. The rate of homozygous mutants born from hetero x hetero crossing is much lower than what is expected from the Mendel's law of inheritance.
