Strain development Developed by Shunsuke Fujii, RIKEN in 2014. R1 ES cell line [(129X1/SvJ x 129S1)F1] was used. After BALB/cA congenic line had been established, this line was backcrossed to C57BL/6J for 5 generations. BALB/cA congenic line is available at RBRC09729.
Strain description A 3.6 kb region, which covers both Hist1h2aa and Hist1h2ba, was replaced with a neo cassette via homologous recombination. It is expected that male homozygotes are sterile and female homozygotes have low fertility.
