Strain development | Developed by Drs Ryo Iwamoto, Eisuke Mekada et al., at Osaka University in 2003.The HB-EGF null mice were generated by crossing with CAG-Cre transgenic mice. |
Strain description | Hbegf, heparin-binding EGF like growth factor is a member of the EGF family of growth factor. This protein binds to and activates the EGF receptor. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit grossly enlarged cardiac valves and ventricular chambers. Most homozygous mice died in the first postnatal week. LacZ gene is expressed under the native HB-EGF promoter to examine the expression pattern of the HB-EGF histologically. |
