SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.129S4-Tob2<tm1Tya>/TyaRbrc
Former Common nametob2-gene KO (B6)
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJ1 [129S4/SvJae]
Background strainC57BL/6
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Tetsuo Noda, Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Institute at and Dr. Tadashi Yamamoto at the University of Tokyo in 1999. LacZ was inserted into Tob2 gene. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6J.
Strain descriptionB6.129S4-Tob2<tm1Tya>. Tob gene is a member of antiproliferative protein family which is a negative regulator BMP/Smad signaling in osteoblasts. Tob2 null mice are viable and appear normal. This strain is useful for elucidating of Tob gene function.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl)
